Considerable data will be collected by the individual ITS systems and maintained in their separate databases. These systems typically also provide reporting facilities of various capabilities and customisability.

However, we strongly believe that close data integration across the ITS systems can deliver significant benefits to both the Operator and the the Management Team:

·       Comprehensive centralised record keeping for historical and audit purposes

·       Numerical analysis to examine operational performance, both current and future

·       Reporting and KPIs for the ADA, including data for

·       Monthly and half-year and annual status reports

·       Ad-hoc review meetings

·       Live operational parameters to enable reactive interventions in the operation; for example, key operational data displayed in dashboard form to mobile devices and by website portal.

Public transport ITS systems generate very large amounts of data. Disseminating the most important operational and technical metrics to allow the business management to react is critical.

In 2010 we identified that the Dubai Road Transport Authority had a requirement to communicate on time performance information to depot managers and supervisors to allow them to act in a timely manner.

Our ITS team integrated a third party system to provide iOS, Android, and Blackberry users with a high level view of the current OTP.

Managers are now able to view the OTP of every route in Dubai for the previous thirty days, enabling them to take action to ensure that service delivery standards are kept.

Combining these approaches creates the conditions for continual performance improvement. To achieve these goals, selected data must be combined on a day-to-day basis from all of the major ITS systems, including the AVM and AFC systems.
